Our new World Dance and Music Center, located in Pawtucket, RI, is a generous 3,600 sq. ft. space with an elevated stage. It's available for workshops, rehearsals, and parties. Motif started off as an experimental gathering, spearheaded by dancers Tempest and Lee Ali, with musicians Karim Nagi and Tim Rayborn at Tribal Fest 8. It was created with the intent to bring the bellydance community back closer to the roots of Middle Eastern dance and music - educating while actively involving and immersing the participants in a community experience. The attendees learned dance and trance techniques, as well as working with other dancers/musicians in a live setting, and understanding working with energy and fostering community.
Attendees can expect to learn dance movements and rhythms that have folkloric roots, and gain skills to help both build community and personal confidence. Musicians are encouraged to bring their instruments, and dancers, bring their moves!
Veil Workshop with Phaedra
Phaedra, known for her flowing and artistic veil work, will present veil techniques to help you get
beyond merely manipulating the veil to actually making the veil an extension of your dance.
Come explore the possibilities and get just that much closer to loving your veil.
Phaedra brings over thirty years of experience dancing and teaching to the classroom. See

DRUM CIRCLES
Come and Drum with us on the first Friday of every month. The evening is open to percussionists of all styles and skill levels. Drums are available to borrow and to purchase. We also welcome bellydancers- bring your hip scarves and zills and come practice your moves! This event is open to ages 18+.
